The Results

  • Consolidated security into one platform, at the same cost they’d already been paying for MDR alone
  • Replaced raw, jargon-heavy alerts with clear guidance on what actually matters
  • Gained a genuine partner behind the platform, not just a vendor

More power, more insight, and the ability to actually take control of AI and what your clients are doing with it. It's a huge upgrade.

The company

TeamLogic IT is a national franchise of managed service providers, with roughly 350 individually owned locations across the country. Every location operates under one shared brand, trading advice, vendor relationships, and lessons learned as if they were one company instead of hundreds.

William Ross owns and operates the TeamLogic IT location in Indianapolis. For him, security failures aren't accidents, they're choices. "To not secure somebody, to not close a loophole or a vulnerability, those are actually choices," he said. "What I can control is the cybersecurity baselines that we put in place to get as far as we can to protecting them."

The challenge

Before partnering with Field Effect, TeamLogic IT Indianapolis's security stack had grown alongside its client base, with new clients arriving locked in contracts, adding to vendor sprawl. Over the years, they had tried to consolidate that stack under a single vendor, but every tool they added brought its own set of problems.

Their antivirus tool was noisy, high on false positives and heavy on jargon, with little indication of what the alerts actually meant. Other tools had more functionality than their technicians could realistically use, leaving pieces of the stack redundant. Their MDR service, meanwhile, felt stuck in the past and he had doubt about whether it was really covering Microsoft 365.

The stakes were rising, too. Ross saw AI playing a role in two ways: attackers using it to probe for vulnerabilities across client networks faster than before, and employees making their own risky calls, downloading unvetted “AI” tools and handing over company data without a second thought about where it went. “People don’t know what employees are doing with their AI, and aren’t clear on how to protect it,” he said. Ross knew a change was needed.

TeamLogic maintains a default list of recommended security vendors that most franchises use.

Ross had already followed that path in parts of his own stack, and it hadn’t solved the real problem: he still didn’t have the visibility or control he needed. “We never had a breach but the team didn’t feel like we were in control of our security. We didn’t have the visibility or the insight,” Ross said.

Ross knew another solution was needed but didn’t want to piece together different security tools or decipher XDR, EDR and MDR jargon that felt more like marketing noise than substance. He wanted something built to do one job: keep his clients safe.

The solution

For TeamLogic IT Indianapolis, Field Effect was the clear choice from the start. "It was very technology- and security-focused. And that's what I wanted," he said. That focus meant Ross could deliver on the security-focused reputation he wanted for his business, without needing a team of cybersecurity experts in-house.

With Field Effect MDR Core, Ross replaced his fragmented stack with unified visibility across endpoint and cloud, including Microsoft 365. It allowed him to consolidate NGAV, EDR, MDR, and a vulnerability scanner that had more capability than what he could ever put to use. And all essentially for the same cost he'd already been paying for MDR alone.

That protection was easy to act on. Field Effect's AROs (Actions, Recommendations, and Observations) made it clear when something actually needed his attention, and why, in language that was easy to understand rather than needing to decode.

"The AROs made it easy for our team, even as non-cybersecurity experts, to understand what was happening and its overall urgency.”

The results

Field Effect gave TeamLogic IT Indianapolis room to operate with confidence by:

  • Consolidated security into one platform, at the same cost they’d already been paying for MDR alone

  • Replaced raw, jargon-heavy alerts with clear guidance on what actually matters
  • Providing a genuine partner behind the platform, not just a vendor

Today, Ross has clarity into his security posture and greater control over his environment and his customers' security.

"I feel like I am more in control of my security. I know Field Effect is monitoring and reporting on any security risks across my customers' environments, and if there was a concern, they would let our team know."

That shift lets TeamLogic IT work to close security gaps before they become a problem, with the confidence that they’ll be alerted quickly if something does happen.

Ross was also thrilled that he gained additional protection against the newest attack surface through Field Effect's newest capability, AI Detection and Response (AIDR). "Adding visibility gives you more power, more insight, and the ability to actually take control of AI and what your clients are doing with it. It's a huge upgrade."

This confidence extends into new business, too. On-demand reports let Ross run a security scan for security risks with prospective clients, giving him something concrete to lead the conversation with. "That report made a huge impact on them," he said.

Field Effect works alongside their team to win new clients, not just support the existing ones: "It feels like a partnership, not a vendor relationship. Everyone I've worked with has been friendly, helpful, and genuinely invested in my success, whether I had a question about security or my own business. It's the kind of customer service I try to deliver myself."

The Results

  • Consolidated security into one platform, at the same cost they’d already been paying for MDR alone
  • Replaced raw, jargon-heavy alerts with clear guidance on what actually matters
  • Gained a genuine partner behind the platform, not just a vendor

I feel like I am more in control of the security.
